My grandma (or Grandmom as she prefers to be called š) has always loved dressing up and has inspired a lot of my style ideologies (although like all grandmas she hates my jeans with holes in them and she would choose a heel over a flat every time – these booties are my compromise since this is about her š).
I could tell you amazing stories about her all day, but Iāll keep it relevant to this outfitā¦at least Iāll try.
Being a married mother in her late teens she had dreams of a much bigger life so when she and my grandfather got divorced, which was uncommon at the time and created so many obstacles like needing her brother to co-sign on a credit card because women were treated financially unfairly (did I also mention she is a big reason weāre all fiercely independent, strong women?!š) she was able to beat out all the competition (and wade through the sexism of airlines at the time) to became a flight attendant āļø for Northwest Airlines (now Delta).
She used to tell us stories about the celebrities sheād meet, the unbelievable situations sheād have to deal with and also about all the places sheād visit.
She gave us these Northwest pins after one of her flights – I couldnāt tell you when, I just know Iāve had it in my jewelry box since I was very little. So this outfit is all the feels and what Iām now deeming āHipster Flight Attendantā as my homage to her and everything sheās accomplishedā¦even though sheās going to absolutely hate that my jeans are distressed hem and my cheese tattoo is showing⦠Sorry Grandmom š

Incorporating Family Heirlooms
I absolutely love incorporating sentimental objects when possible. To me, a family heirloom doesn’t have to be something worth a lot. It’s something that is being passed down to our loved ones so that they can get further joy out of them. So while a throwback Northwest Airlines wings pin may not be valuable to you, to me it’s priceless!

Shirt: Amazon
Jeans: Good American
Purse: Amazon
Boots: TOMS
Hair: Used a Pony-O to give it some more volume and then pinned it into a messy bun.
Let me know what you think about the “Hipster Flight Attendant” vibe and feel free to share stories about your grandparents!
XOXO, Tara
