Last year I was a very active Cupshe partner so this year when they reached out I was happy to continue the partnership – but with a twist.
I recently wrote an essay on body positivity and what that means in 2024, including the decline in retailers who are actively promoting larger bodies in their advertising or even in their sizing any longer. Cupshe is a retailer that usually carries their swimsuit line up to an XL (which is a US 14/16), with some of their regular suits being available up to an XXL and a smaller selection of swimsuits available through their plus size line.
There is not one woman I know who doesn’t have something they want to change or don’t like about their body – which is incredibly sad, yes, but also reality. Because of that swimsuit season looms over us all like a cloud of dread and I want to put an end to that – an end to the feeling of needing to hide my body or that my body is less than because it, in fact, is more than (see what I did there lol).
I was very excited to have my friend, Mikayla, join me to showcase these Cupshe swimsuits, not just on my body, but on hers, so that people can see that every body is swimsuit body.
- I am 5’10 and wearing the XXL
- Mikayla is 5’2 and wearing the M

Cupshe One Pieces
Because we needed swimsuits that would fit both of us it was a little harder to find ones in stock in both sizes. Below are the three we were able to grab and our general notes on them.
Swimsuit 1: Leopard O-Ring
This swimsuit was both of our favorites all around. I felt like it had the best coverage while still giving me something and the pattern was reminiscent of Lisa Frank.
Mikayla would have preferred a deeper v cut for her own body, but liked that the sides come up a bit on her hips to emphasize her shape.

Swimsuit: Cupshe
One Piece 2: Polka Dot Halter
I loved the pattern of this one and although I don’t usually wear halters because of my small chest, I felt like this emphasized my shape.
Mikayla also liked the pattern, but wished the sides would have been a higher rise.

Swimsuit: Cupshe
One Piece 3: Halter Tummy Control
Fit wise, Mikayla loved the top and the compression on her stomach.
For me, it didn’t really do much to help my small chest and the pattern is too girly.

Swimsuit: Cupshe
What we’d like you to takeaway here is not that one body is better in either of these swimsuits, but that every one has insecurities or things they would change about their body so don’t let that stop you from living your life!
Let me know which pieces you like best and don’t forget to use “TaraJ15” for 15% off purchases of $65 and more at Cupshe.
XOXO, Tara + Mikayla
