Ok ok I get that I’m not going back to school at my age haha, but I feel like the term “back to school” is synonymous with the summer to fall transition so I’m going with it.
My “inspired by” series took a bit of a hiatus in July with all the Fourth of July content I was vomiting up on my feed, but now, with everything happening in the country, it felt like an important series to bring back.
What is my “Inspired By series?”
This year I made it a goal to put together outfits inspired by women I follow using only pieces from my wardrobe as a way to use my platform to publicly support and elevate women, with the added bonus of being able to fall back in love with my wardrobe by trying out new stylings.
I am constantly taken aback by the vitriol that women spit at other women on the internet without a second thought and while I do blame social media for enabling people to pretend their actions aren’t tied to their character, what is really to blame is the societal pressures put on women to compete with one another.
“We teach girls to shrink themselves, to make themselves smaller. We say to girls, you can have ambition, but not too much. You should aim to be successful, but not too successful. Otherwise, you would threaten the man…We raise girls to see each other as competitors not for jobs or accomplishments, which I think can be a good thing, but for the attention of men.” – Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
Shop the looks on my LTK.it and in this series I also link out to the profiles of the women who inspired me so you can go give them a follow as well!
Both of the outfits below are inspired by Maria Vizuete (@miamiamine). The first outfit is based off one of my all time favorites of hers and I found the sweater in the second outfit from her posting it during the Prime Day sale.
Fun fact about Maria is that I’ve known her since we were kids because we were neighbors. She is truly so sweet and deserving of her successes.
Outfit 1: Black & Camel
You can’t convince me that black and camel were made to be one. In Maria’s outfit she is using white instead of black but the rest of the outfit is very similar!

Bodysuit: Pumiey
Jeans: Express (very old)
Sweater: Fashion Nova
Shoes: Nike (old)
Purse: Hellflower Noctum Bag
Sunglasses: DIFF Eyewear (fun fact: DIFF donates the gift of sight to those in need for every pair sold)
Outfit 2: Summer to Fall Transition
This sweater is SO soft. It’s meant to be an oversized fit and goes to right below my butt at 5’10, so obviously a perfect leggings sweater, but I thought it would be fun to style it differently and I love how it turned out.

Sweater: Amazon
Shorts: Forever21 (old)
Purse: Amazon
Shoes: Target
Lip: KVD Beauty Liquid Lipstick
You can check out the rest of the “inspired by” looks I’ve done this year here.
I encourage each of you to go out of your way this year (and every year really) to vocally encourage other women. In a previous life I was head of social media for a restaurant chain and very rarely did guests go online to post when they had a great experience but you best believe the moment it was bad they shouted it from the rooftops, often even saying things like “normally our experience is great but this time….” and that made me so sad and realize how important it is to TELL someone when you appreciate/like what they are doing. No matter how strong someone is, they can’t handle constant negativity without a reprieve.
XOXO, Tara
