2025 Fashion Resolutions

Plus Size Fashion Resolutions for 2025

There isn’t a lot that has changed regarding my stance on plus size fashion and body positivity since last year (read it here), but the constant practicing of self confidence has helped me to understand some truths about myself and my personal style.

Here I’m going to share my 3 fashion resolutions for 2025.

See all my outfits on my LTK.

1. Just because something “fits” doesn’t mean I have to like it.

It’s ok to say I don’t like something or to decline a plus size brand collaboration when the clothes aren’t me.

This has been a hard one for me, because I want so badly to make sure that plus size brands and designers get the extra PR push, but realistically, sometimes these brands are creating pieces that are dated and, in my opinion, that only serves to under represent the modern plus size woman.

2. Now that I’ve identified the aesthetics that make me feel the most me – only invest in pieces that work within it.

2024 was a year of playing dress-up for me to help identify what my style is now that I’m in my late 30s. Even allergies are said to form or change every 10 years, so after so many years of self confidence growth it is unrealistic to assume that something I’ve had for years still represents my aesthetic/who I am today.

The only exception here is that I do think it is important to push yourself and try new things, so if there is something I absolutely love that doesn’t fit this “witchy/suburban alternative” vibe I’m embracing, I’m not going to stop myself from experimenting!

3. Don’t EVER “dress my age.”

It’s been an ongoing joke with my family that I still continue to get carded at 38 and that a few of those times the server has gone on to express authentic shock at my age. In addition to the added bonus of being able to throw this in my sisters’ faces 😈, this has taught me how important it is to dress how you feel, vs “what is age appropriate.”

Being completely real, no outfit is ever going to be universally accepted as “age appropriate” anyway. In a recent post I did in collaboration with SHEIN one comment said that I was trying to dress like a teenager and another comment said I was dressing way too old and dowdy….why bother trying to please anyone but myself?

While I’ll still be 38 for another 7 months, I felt like it was also fitting to share my birthday reel…

Let me know if any of these resonate for you and what resolutions you’re making! I wish you all the 2025 you are hoping for.

XOXO, Tara
