It’s almost shorts season so I thought this was a good time to share my most tried & true hack: sizing up in shorts.

Shorts Style Tip: Size Up 1-2 Sizes

Why do I recommend sizing up? It’s pretty simple.
While jeans tend to be super form fitting to help elongate and emphasize our shape, having shorts or a skirt that is too tight comes across as ill fitting and its also super uncomfortable to wear. By sizing up 1-2 sizes I’ve found that its not only made me feel more confident, but it has been easier to avoid having my thighs eat the fabric 😂.

I’m normally a size 18, but Old Navy bottoms are always hit or miss with me so to show how this works, I picked up two washes in two sizes – a size 20 and size 22.
While you may not be able to super tell in the photos, I can already visibly see that the size 20 is what I’d consider my “real” fit in these shorts. However, the size 22 allows for more thigh room and a bit more gap in the waistband for comfort.
You can see the difference better in the video below.
For me it is a no brainer that the bigger size is the better fit!
XOXO, Tara
