Today is February 1st, which means I have successfully completed my personal “No Shop January ” challenge.
What were the rules? Just one: buy nothing new.
That may seem like a novel concept, but I’m an emotional shopper and this time of year is especially hard on me. The anxiety and stress of the holiday season coupled with short days and the end of year “did I accomplish enough” blues takes it’s toll and it’s hard not to do something that gives me temporary relief – like the dopamine high shopping does.
What were the end goals?
- Fall back in love with my wardrobe
- Help reprioritize saving vs spending
- Lastly – the most important reason – refocus on finding positive ways to be present in my feelings
Did I succeed? Yes. Do I feel like I met my goals? Double yes. It was especially fun to put together some more “classic” outfits vs. fast fashion.
Below are my 7 favorite outfits from the month.
Shop all the outfits below on my LTK.it
Outfit 1: Cute & Comfortable
Quality joggers, a soft sweatshirt, and comfortable kicks will ALWAYS be a winner.
Outfit 2: Monochromatic
When in doubt – stick with an outfit that uses the same color palette.
Jacket: Old Navy
Purse: Portland Leather
Outfit 3: Edgy Casual
This outfit can work for anything from errands all the way to a girls night or even a concert.
Leggings: ASSETS x SPANX
Shirt: BOOHOO Ramones
Boots: Dr. Martens
Outfit 4: Business Casual
I get that this outfit may not be business appropriate for everyone, but you can easily change out the leggings for different pants and you’re set.
Tote: Portland Leather
Outfit 5: Upscale Comfortable
The recipe here is pretty similar to outfit one, except in this outfit instead of joggers you’re wearing jeans so you can feel more put together haha
Outfit 6: 90s Inspired
The 90s are back so if you want to get on the trend, but still stay modern, I very much recommend finding yourself a plaid skirt ASAP.
Bodysuit: Abercrombie & Fitch
Boots: Dr. Martens
Necklaces: Miranda Frye (use code TARA10 for 10% off)
Outfit 6: Date Night
All black with a statement skirt – perfect for any date night or fancy event.
Purse: Coach Outlet
Let me know which style type you like best.
