5 Plus Size Swimwear Brands – 2024

5 Best Plus Size Swimsuit Brands Tara Jane Style

I recently put together a list of my top 10 favorite plus size brands and that got me thinking about what other things I often get asked about that would be great to share a list of faves and for me it was a no-brainer (especially living in Minnesota) – swimsuits.

Full disclosure: I generally HATE plus size swimwear. Most of it is designed with the goal of covering up or camouflaging as much skin as possible so it involves tankinis and swim skirts and full on swim dresses – and while I am not here to shame anyone who genuinely feels confident in those styles, to me it feels fatphobic and makes me even MORE self conscious about my body because the message I’m receiving is that I need to hide myself/act small because I’m big.

A couple years ago I made a pact with myself to stop defaulting to a cover-up when I’m not in the water. If I’m cold or need a sun-break then by all means I’ll throw on the t-shirt, but the impulse to hide was the result of my own insecurities and body hatred and I don’t want to live my life hating myself. I’ve gotten to a good place where I don’t feel the need to apologize for simpy existing and quite honestly, if someone I’m with is going to take exception to my body just being a body than they are not someone I want in my life. Period.

While I do still favor a one piece, I do also have bikinis I love. Below are my 5 favorite places to find swimsuits along with my reasoning, sizes carried, and if I’d consider them a save or a splurge brand.

I’m focusing on five “brands” below, but I do also want to share that I’ve found great swimsuits on Amazon. Because of the nature of their website they are able to offer really great, affordable options. The only caveat there is that you really need to know your measurements.

5 Best Plus Size Swimsuit Brands

1. Andie Swim| Sizes XS – XXXL | Splurge

These swimsuits are definitely on the more expensive end, but I love that their one pieces are also like flattering bodysuits and you can easily throw on a pair of shorts over them to have them go all day.

My Favorites:

The Malibu – Andie Swim

2. Aerie/American Eagle| Sizes XS – XXL| Save

I am an XXL which is a US 18/20 in one pieces (in bikinis I’m a 16 on top and 18 on bottom). So I CAN shop at Aerie and American Eagle for swimsuits.

This tie back swimsuit below has been my go-to for 3 years now and it is still being sold today because it’s such a classic silhouette. The one on the right is my new favorite from this year.

3. Berlook| Sizes 0 – 34 | Save

Berlook is a new brand for me this year and I’m loving that they offer sustainable swimwear at an accessible price.

Below I’ll feature my favorite one-piece and my favorite bikini set. I also love that they allow you to mix and match the top and bottom for the optimal fit.

I do currently have a discount code with them. You can find it here.

4. Cupshe on Amazon | Sizes XS – XXL | Save

I’ve been a fan of Cupshe for a few years, but this year I’m noticing a shift on what is available via their actual website vs. their Amazon storefront and I’m noticing that they’ve shifted most of their plus size selection from previous years over to Amazon.

Sharing three of my favorite Cupshe Swimsuits that are on Amazon.

However, if you do find something directly on their website you can find my current discount code here.

5. Summersalt| Sizes XS – XXL | Splurge

I’ve been getting served up Summersalt ads on social for quite some time and I kept talking myself out of it because of the price, but when I saw this leopard print pattern I couldn’t resist. The influencer I saw in it was also wearing it as a bodysuit. Love!

3 Runner Up Brands

While I do not currently have swimsuits from any of these brands, I either have previously or have heard rave reviews from fellow women.

1. Swimsuits for All

2. Old Navy

3. Target

Let me know if you agree or what brands you think are missing. You can find my essay on what being body positive means here and reminder that you can find all my current discount codes here.

XOXO, Tara
